Celestia Unveils Ginger Upgrade to Offer Rapid Finality and Increased Throughput

Celestia’s Ginger Upgrade Promises Blockchain Efficiency and Decentralized Data Accessibility

In a comprehensive blog post, Celestia offered insights into the latest Ginger upgrade. It mentioned that the upgrade signifies a pivotal point for the platform’s vision of blockchain efficiency and availability of decentralized data.

The Ginger upgrade reportedly enables “The Doubling” feature to double the data accessibility throughput of Celestia. Additionally, the upgrade reduces the block times to only 6 seconds, highlighting a 50% decrease from the previous 12 seconds. In this way, the network now offers rapid single-slot finality, enhancing user experience to a great extent. With this, the data throughput of nearly 1.33 MB/s leads toward additional community governance-led improvements. They include the likelihood of raising the block sizes to almost 8 MB/s for each six-second block.

Many Celestia Improvement Proposals establish a strong foundation for the Ginger upgrade, pushing functionality and performance-related innovations.
